Skilled Bookkeeper

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain company financial records for various types of clients. The position will start at 20 hours per week and can move to full-time if desired. Bookkeeper job duties include working closely with the team to create and analyze financial reports, process accounts payable and receivable. Our ideal candidate holds an Accounting degree or equivalent work experience. Must be proficient with QuickBooks Online and Desktop versions, as well as Microsoft Excel.

The right candidate will have a designated space in their home to be able to work and will be self-motivated and disciplined in order to be productive in a home office environment. Must also be able to meet with clients and work on-site as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Verify that transactions are recorded accurately in QuickBooks
  • Perform checks of the posting process
  • Maintain and analyze records, reports and financial statements
  • Process accounts receivable/payable in a timely manner
  • Reconcile industry specific software with QuickBooks at month end

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be proficient in QuickBooks (Desktop and Online versions) and Excel
  • Proven cash based and accrual based bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles including adjusting/reversing entries for the accrual accounting method
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Customer service skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
